Our remodel consisted of demolishing a large pool and adding 1400 sq ft to our home.  Most of the addition was designed to be built over the old pool so there were additional structural and soil engineer requirements.  And as a bonus, the city required us to install fire sprinklers (and retro fit the existing house).  We were in the process of interviewing General Contractors and getting quite discouraged when the roofer from our solar panel installation recommended Mica.  Our search was for someone we felt would embrace our vision and would genuinely work with us to achieve it.  Someone who could get it and would truly have our best interests at heart… while also being a keen businessman.  Our requirements were a bit unique in that my engineer husband had some projects he wanted to personally do along the way, so finding someone he could collaborate with was a priority.  We had a wonderful architect, soils engineer and structural engineer identified, so considering those relationships was also important.  What a breath of fresh air was our find in Mica!

While Mica shared our vision he also kept an eye on maintaining our budget.  He was open to our change orders as the project progressed, providing estimates on additional time/cost and usually coming in under both.  Having lived in the house during the remodel I had the opportunity to witness much of the day to day operations.  Mica maintains great working relationships with his subs and his employees. He doesn’t hesitate to roll up his sleeves and help when necessary!  I have tremendous respect for Mica’s ability to think outside the box when problem solving.  He was quick to resolve any issues identified (by him or us) to our satisifaction.  He displays grace under pressure and elicits and welcomes feedback of any kind.

Mica made living in the house during construction as comfortable as possible.  Among other things, he relocated my washer and dryer to an accessible area of the house and constructed a wall with extra insulation between the old/new portions of the house.  His employees were very customer-focused and truly delightful!

While no one is perfect, I am hard pressed to find an area of improvement for Mica.  Perhaps a bit more attention to detail but then again I am a bit of an unrealistic perfectionist!  So really he probably deserves kudos for being able to work with me!

I look forward to contracting Mica again for our kitchen remodel and wouldn’t hesitate to refer him without reserve!
